Dauda Illo Community Development Association (CDA) in Ilamoshe ward has appealed to Ejigbo LCDA authority to help construct bridge over the canal that links major streets in the environment to the government provided health and education facilities in the community.

The canal which connects about seven major streets to Dauda Illo Primary Health Centre (PHC) is said to have worsened due to erosion, restricting residents from accessing Dauda Illo Primary Health Centre, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Primary School and the customary court in the area.

Speaking to ECHONEWS, the CDA Treasurer, Mr. Azeez Eko, explained that the community had, at some point in time, built a bridge on the canal for easy movement but was not productive during rainy season due to heavy downpour as it was overrun by flood.

He explained the efforts of the CDA in keeping the environment safe and clean in order to protect children in the public primary school from being injured while passing through the canal.

He said constructing a befitting bridge on the canal will be highly beneficial because it links about seven streets including Wahabi, Akogun, Dr Aina, Saka, Ogunde, Erinfolami, and other strees down to Dauda Illo, believeing only government can build such standard bridge that can withstand test of time.

‘We appeal to government to help us out because we believe government’s contribution would make it more standard and wide enough for passersby without the erosion over taking it unlike the one we provided,” he said.

Also commenting, the Apex Nurse of Ejigbo LCDA, Nurse Iyabode Ikhianosime, disclosed that the nonavailability of the access bridge is making their staff idle as residents prefer patronising Primary Health Centre at Moshalshi.

She appealed to the government to help construct the bridge in order for the health centre to be functional.

The CDA Chairman, Mr. Momoh Okedele, also requested that the security level of the environment be tightened as the community often experiences hoodlums disturbance.

He appreciated the efforts of the former chairman of Ejigbo LCDA, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, for constructing the primary health center, primary school and customary court in the area which he described as a long term beneficial assets to the community.
