Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament: FC Robo Queens battered Royal Queens 5-0

The pride of female football in Lagos, FC Robo Queens begin their campaign in the maiden edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) in Edo state with a 5 star performance by thrashing Warri base side Royal Queens 5-0 at Western Boys high school Edo state.

FC Robo Queens inspirational captain, Gift Monday led the scorers chart of the game with two goals while bullish striker Opeyemi Ajakaye, tricky and skillful winger, Shukurat Oladipo and energetic midfielder, Sade Ijamilusi all scored a goal each to complete the score line.

As expected, FC Robo Queens dominated proceedings in the first half with their silk passing of the ball which Royal Queens couldn’t handle. FC Robo Queens got some penalty shouts in the first half, but the center referee waved play to continue despite a clear foul in the 18 meters box.

FC Robo Queens skillful winger, Shukurat Oladipo opened the goal account of the match with a well placed effort which was assisted by Opeyemi Ajakaye who went on a dazzling run before laying down the pass to Shukurat Oladipo who finished clinically.

FC Robo Queens applied more pressure on the defense of Royal Queens and were rewarded with the second goal through Opeyemi Ajakaye, who lashed onto a through ball to lob Royal Queens goalkeeper to double FC Robo Queens lead.

Royal Queens closest to goal was a free kick they had in front of FC Robo Queens 18 yards box but the effort was fired straight to the FC Robo Queens goalkeeper. FC Robo Queens pushed for more goals in the first half but their effort went off the goal post.

FC Robo laboured hard to get the 3rd goal of the match which came in the 60th minute through their dynamic captain, Gift Monday who sent a terrific header into the net and was assisted by midfield maestro Rukayat Shobowale.

Gift Monday grabbed her brace in the match with an entertaining and brilliant finish by beating 4 players before slotting the ball past the onrushing goalie into the net.

When it seems the score line will remain at 4-0, energetic midfielder Sade Ijamilusi popped up on the edge of Royal Queens 18 meters box to fire the ball which wriggled it’s way past the outstretched arm of Royal Queens goalie into the net to make it 5-0 for the Mushin based side.
