Police Raid Illegal Alcohol Factory in Lagos, Arrest Suspect

LAGOS — Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command attached to the Badagry Division have raided an alleged illegal alcohol production facility in the Iyafin area of Badagry, arresting a 48-year-old suspect, Emeka Anieba.

Anieba, an indigene of Anambra State, was reportedly arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly manufacturing fake and unapproved brands of Flamigo alcoholic beverages.

The operation followed intelligence received by the division about suspected illicit alcohol production at an unapproved facility in the community.
The police team, led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Jude Nwokolo, stormed the location and arrested Anieba.

Items recovered from the facility reportedly included production equipment, empty bottles and substances suspected to be raw materials for the production of the alleged fake drinks.

Police sources said the suspect remains in custody and is being interrogated as investigators work to identify and apprehend other alleged members of the syndicate, including distributors of the products.

Police said investigations are ongoing.
