AFCON 2027 Qualifier: Chadian Referee Mahamat To Take Charge Of Super Eagles vs Madagascar

CAF has appointed Chadian, Alhadji Allaou Mahamat to take the center stage in Nigeria’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Madagascar on Friday, September 25 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

The 40-year-old is one of Africa’s most celebrated match official, having handled fixtures in the CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup, Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and the African Nations Championship.

Mahamat is already familiar with the Super Eagles. He officiated two Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches, the 1-0 home win over Rwanda and the 2-1 victory against Lesotho played in South Africa.

The Group D encounter is set for Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Both sides will be chasing three crucial points as the qualifying campaign begins.
