Apeka High School Road: Ikorodu North Moves to Improve Access, Support Residents and Businesses

Residents, students, motorists and business owners in the Apeka community of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area are set to experience easier movement as the ongoing construction of Apeka High School Road progresses.
The road project is one of the infrastructure interventions being carried out by the administration of the Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Mayor Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, as part of efforts to address some of the challenges affecting movement and everyday activities within the community.
Mayor Apanisile recently inspected the project site to assess the level of work and ensure that construction is being carried out according to the required standards.
For residents who have had to navigate the existing road conditions, the project represents more than just another government construction project. A better road could mean easier access to homes, reduced transportation difficulties and safer movement for children and young people going to school.
The location of the project also makes it important to the local business community. Improved access can make it easier for customers to reach shops and businesses, while traders, artisans and transport operators are expected to benefit from smoother movement within the area.
During the inspection, the Chairman examined the quality of work, progress made and compliance with project specifications. He stressed that projects being executed by his administration must provide real value to residents and meet the expected standards.
The inspection was witnessed by the CDC Chairman, Mr. Niran Ogunbanwo; Chief of Staff, Hon. Mayowa Saheed; Supervisor for Works, Mr. Kehinde Jokomba; as well as community leaders and residents.
Community members welcomed the intervention, describing the road as an important response to a long-standing infrastructure need in the area. Their reactions highlight the significance of local government projects that directly affect the daily lives of residents.
For young people in the community, improved infrastructure also means better access to schools, businesses, recreational spaces and other opportunities within and beyond their immediate neighbourhood.
Speaking during the inspection, Mayor Apanisile assured residents that his administration would continue to identify infrastructure gaps across Ikorodu North and focus on projects capable of producing tangible benefits for communities.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the administration’s New Deal Agenda, which focuses on sustainable development, quality infrastructure, responsive leadership and people-oriented governance.
The Apeka High School Road project therefore goes beyond the construction of a road. For residents, it is about easier movement. For students and young people, it is about safer access. For businesses, it is about improved connectivity. And for the wider community, it is another step towards creating an environment where people can live, work and move around more comfortably.
