AMVCA 2026: Sanwo-Olu Hails African Filmmakers, Content Creators

Babajide Sanwo-Olu joined filmmakers, actors and entertainment stakeholders on Saturday night at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards 2026 held at Eko Hotel and Suites, where he praised the continued rise of African storytelling and the continent’s creative industry.

 

The colourful event brought together top names in film, television and digital content creation from different parts of Africa to celebrate outstanding achievements in entertainment.

 

Speaking after the ceremony, the governor described the AMVCA as one of the biggest platforms promoting African creativity, culture and talent on the global stage.

 

According to him, the growth of the entertainment industry has continued to place Africa in the international spotlight while creating opportunities for young creatives across the continent.

 

Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government to supporting the arts, entertainment and creative economy, noting that Lagos would continue to position itself as a leading destination for creative excellence in Africa.

 

The governor added that the success of events like the AMVCA reflects the strength and influence of African storytelling in shaping culture, inspiring people and projecting positive narratives about the continent.

 

The 2026 edition of the awards featured filmmakers, actors, producers, content creators and industry executives celebrating achievements in film production, television and digital entertainment.
