Godly boys as they are fondly called had to come from a goal down to defeat Brothers FC 5-4 through penalty shootout to win the Alimosho Super Cup which is organized by Shakis sport association.
SGH Sports Academy came from a goal down to level the score line at 1-1 before crowning their efforts at the penalty shootout by winning 5-4 courtesy of a great save from their goalkeeper, Raimi Babs.
The match was a terrific one at sight as both teams played out their hearts in an enthralling encounter.
Both teams failed to hit the back of the net in the first half despite creating some chances as they went to the break in a goalless draw.
The second half came brighter as the teams came closer to goal than the first half.
Brothers FC drew the first blood in the encounter as they took the lead in a dramatic fashion to stun SGH Sports Academy.
SGH Sports Academy playmaker, Olamide Ogungbire dazzled his way to notch in the equalizer for the Godly boys to step up a great finish to the game.
Both sides tried getting the winning goal at the tail end of the match but were unlucky as the game went out to penalty shootout.
Both teams had a good run in the penalty shootout but the 5th spot kick of Brothers FC was punched away by the goal custodian of SGH Sports Academy, Raimi Babs as he was the hero in the game with his heroic world class crucial penalty save to hand over the trophy to the Godly boys.
Speaking with ECHONEWS, the coach of SGH Sports Academy, coach Hamed Timilehin appreciated God, the organizers of the tourney and the chairman of SGH Sports Academy, Mr Bakare Temitayo and his players for the victory as he added that the team gave their best and the are happy that, they are the champion.
Olamide Ogungbire won the MVP award of the competition, while coach Hamed Timilehin won the best coach of the competition.
