Residents of Akilo and surrounding communities in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Council Development Area are set to gain access to a sustainable potable water supply as the Lagos Water Corporation (LSWC) embarks on the rehabilitation of the Akilo Micro Waterworks.
The project, executed in partnership with WaterAid Nigeria and Armani Beauty, aims to provide clean water to over 100,000 residents through water kiosks and household connections within six months.
Speaking at the official contract signing ceremony held at the LSWC headquarters in Ijora, the Managing Director of the corporation, Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani (MTT), explained the importance of the initiative.
He noted that the rehabilitation of the waterworks would significantly enhance access to safe and sustainable water for the affected communities.
“The Akilo Micro Waterworks project is a vital step towards improving public health and ensuring water security in Lagos. We recognize the significance of this effort and remain committed to delivering clean and potable water to every household,” Tijani stated.
Upon completion, the project is expected to alleviate water scarcity challenges in the area, supporting the state government’s broader agenda of improving water infrastructure across Lagos.
