Aare Tomori Williams Cup: Check out how opening day games went

The 6th edition of the Aare Tomori Williams Cup kicked off at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos Island.

The tournament which is in it sixth edition have produced world class talents like Super Falcons midfielder, Esther Oyenezide and Nigeria U17 Women’s World Cup Bronze medalist, Opeyemi Ajakaye and many others.

The sponsor of the tournament, Chief Aare Tomori Williams was on ground at the opening ceremony of the tournament at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos Island.

In the first game of the day, FC Middlewell defeated Alimi Skills Builders 2-1 in an exciting match, the second leg will be a blockbuster between both sides because of how close the tie is.

FC Phoenix Queens played a drab goalless draw with Future Stars 99 in the first women’s game of the tournament. Both teams had their fair share of chances but they failed to convert them as the second leg will be a very open one that could go either way.

In the second women’s game of the campaign, Young Talent 99 defeated Unification Queens with a lone goal.

Prince Kazeem Eletu FA also defeated Latoyem FA with a slim lone goal. A win for Prince Kazeem Eletu FA in the second leg will seal their place in the next round while Latoyem FA will need at least a two goal margin win in the second leg to knockout Prince Kazeem Eletu FA in the tournament.
