– Obe beefs up security surveillance on illegal dumping sites

The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local council development Area (LCDA),hon. Monsurudeen Bello (Obe), has beefed up security surveillance on some areas which where residents illegally dumped their refuse.

 

The chairman warned that anybody caught in the act would be prosecuted and punished accordingly.

Obe, who led a Tripartite team comprising the council executive arm, the legislative arm and the security (both police and Lagos Neighbourhood Security Corps – LNSC) to the marked sites, ordered the security personnel to keep eyes on the areas.

Speaking on the issue, the Secretary to the Local Council (SLG), Hon. Omatseye Fregene said the surveillance team has already started the operation from 11.30pm to 1.30am for the first session while the second session started by 4.30am to 6am.

 

According to him, Fidelity Bank Junction, Ile Epo Spots and Military Zone Spot are the major areas marked for the first operation.

 

He noted that some people were arrested during the first operation and have been taken to Ejigbo divisional police station.

“As at now, we have arrested person persons and they have been handed to the police for prosecution. We are still watching and I assure you that anybody cught would not be pardoned. Their act of illegal dumping of refuse is hazardous to people’s health and the local government would not condone that,” he said.
