Anxiety as Oshodi-Isolo LGA disengages 259 temporary staffs

By Edith Igbokwe

Fear of unemployment caught the contract and temporary (non-pensionable) staffs of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government last week as the Local Government authority terminated the appointment of about 259 of them, which took effect from 15th March 2019.

Through a memorandum pasted on notice board on Monday, 18th March 2019, the affected staff members were given ultimatum referral to human resources department to collect their disengagement letter while waiting for half salary for the month of March, which would be processed into their accounts.

A statement signed by the Human Resource Officer (HRO), Badmus Lateef, further explained that the reshuffle of workforce is a normal exercise in public service jobs for a review of performances and to give opportunity to new individuals to contribute their quotas to the development of their community.

However, it was stated that the affected workers who are still interested in the employment can re-apply through application letters addressed to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Bolaji Muse-Ariyoh with current passport photograph affixed and submitted via HRO department.

The disengagement of temporary service workers cut across different sections of staffs in the local government, such as laboratory, United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) coordinator and instructors, security operatives, contract staff (Nurses and midwives), media crew, revenue committee, ward sanitation monitors, street sweepers, personal assistant to executive chairman and host of others.
