Nigeria forward, Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed his ambition to become a legend at Turkish club Bursaspor, describing the prospect as a huge honour for himself and his family.

The Super Eagles striker, who has made an encouraging start to life at the club, is determined to build on his early performances and help Bursaspor achieve their target of securing promotion to the Turkish Süper Lig.

Iheanacho admitted that he did not anticipate settling in so quickly, while acknowledging the quality and competitiveness of the Turkish First League.

“Becoming a legend of a great club like Bursaspor would be a great honour for me and my family. I hope something like that happens,” Iheanacho said.

The Nigerian international said he’s eager to maintain his progress as the campaign unfolds, despite the challenges posed by the division.

“The First League is a really good and tough league. Incredible players are playing there. I didn’t expect to start this well. I want to show more of these performances as the season progresses,” the striker told Fanatik.

The former Manchester City and Leicester City forward also stressed that Bursaspor’s primary objective is to return to Turkey’s top flight, insisting that the players are committed to achieving the ambition.

“At the end of the day, we aim to become champions and get promoted to the Süper Lig. We want to do this and we are playing for it.”

Since moving to Buraspor, Iheanacho has netted 16 goals, and contributed three assists in 12 matches.

Buraspor are top of the Turkish TFF First League rankings with 28 points in 12 matches as they aim for promotion to the top-flight.
