A driver narrowly escaped death on Friday morning after an Agege-bound train collided with a Honda sedan at the PWD railway intersection along the Ikeja axis of Lagos State.
The vehicle, with registration number EKY 902 JT, was severely damaged in the collision, which left it trapped on the railway tracks and disrupted traffic along the busy corridor.
The Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the incident, stating that the driver escaped without injuries despite the severity of the impact.
Witnesses at the scene reportedly joined forces to push the wrecked vehicle off the tracks to clear the railway line.
LASTMA officials and emergency responders were on the ground managing the resulting gridlock, while efforts to evacuate the damaged car were ongoing.
The incident caused significant traffic disruption around the PWD railway intersection, one of the busy transport corridors in the Ikeja area.
