Container Truck Collision Causes Traffic Backlog Towards Old Toll Gate

At least 2 people have sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle collision involving 2 container trucks and 3 other vehicles at Apostolic, along the route towards Alapere in Lagos State.

 

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a statement accompanying a video posted on its official X account on Thursday.

 

The footage showed LASTMA officials, personnel of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps and police officers at the scene managing the aftermath of the crash.

 

According to the agency, the collision involved 2 40-foot containerised trucks and 3 other vehicles, leaving 2 people with injuries of varying degrees.

 

“A multiple-vehicle crash involving two 40ft containerised trucks and three other vehicles occurred at Apostolic, inward Alapere, resulting in two reported casualties,” LASTMA said.

 

The agency added that the scene had been secured to prevent further accidents, while its personnel worked to control traffic and coordinate the removal of the damaged vehicles.

 

“The scene has been secured to prevent secondary incidents, while our men are on the ground to manage the situation and facilitate recovery.

 

“The incident is currently causing a traffic backlog towards the old Toll Gate, with recovery efforts ongoing,” the agency said.
