A man accused of repeatedly targeting religious clerics with alleged cyberbullying and disparaging remarks has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.

The suspect, who lives in the Alakuko area of Lagos, was reportedly tracked down and arrested on Tuesday following petitions submitted by religious leaders against him.

According to a police source, one of the petitions was filed by a prominent Celestial Church pastor in the Ojokoro area, who accused the suspect of making offensive remarks against him and his religious beliefs.

Another petition was reportedly submitted by an Islamic scholar in the Ogba area, who similarly accused the suspect of making derogatory remarks against him and his faith.

Following the complaints, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, directed detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, to investigate the allegations.

The police source also disclosed that the suspect was already wanted in Kwara State, where a warrant had reportedly been issued in connection with alleged cyberbullying cases involving other religious clerics.

The suspect was subsequently profiled by the police while the command awaited further complaints from other individuals who may have been affected by his alleged online activities.

The source said additional complaints could help investigators establish the full scope of the allegations and determine the next steps in the case.

The police are expected to take the suspect to court after concluding their investigation.

The command also assured that the investigation would be handled professionally, with the suspect and complainants given the opportunity to present their evidence.

The suspect remains an accused person, and the allegations against him have not been established in court.
