Fatal Lexus Crash Near Eko Hotel Claims One Life, Three Critically Injured
LAGOS — A fatal early-morning crash along the Lagos Coastal Road near the Eko Hotel axis has claimed one life and left three other occupants critically injured.
The accident occurred on Friday when a grey Lexus 350, with registration number LSD 554 KV, reportedly lost control, crashed into a street pole and overturned while travelling inward towards Eko Hotel.
Emergency responders from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) quickly moved in to secure the scene. With assistance from passersby, LASTMA personnel rescued three occupants trapped inside the badly damaged vehicle.
The injured victims were subsequently rushed to Duck-Yard Hospital in the Military Zone for urgent medical attention.
Meanwhile, personnel from the Victoria Island Police Station provided security support as LASTMA officials cleared the wreckage from the carriageway to restore traffic flow.
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commiserated with the family of the deceased and warned motorists against dangerous driving practices.
Bakare-Oki specifically cautioned drivers against excessive speed and reckless driving, noting that loss of vehicular control could result in fatal consequences.
He urged motorists to exercise caution on Lagos roads and advised members of the public to report road emergencies through LASTMA’s toll-free short code 3367.
