Kizz Daniel Opens Up on Why He Took Break From Music

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has revealed that the death of his mother earlier this year was the reason he took a break from music.

The singer made the disclosure on Friday while responding to a fan on X who had assumed that he was away from the music scene because he was working on a new album.

The fan, @VicroyDominion1, had tweeted: “I guess album really made you busy you had to pause for a while.”

Kizz Daniel, however, clarified that his absence was linked to his mother’s death and not an album project.

“I paused for my Mom not an album … Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family … sorry I came late this year,” he wrote.

The revelation prompted an outpouring of condolences from fans, many of whom expressed sympathy over his loss and offered prayers for him and his family.

The singer’s disclosure also sheds light on his relatively low profile in the music space this year, after fans had speculated that he might have been working on new material.

Kizz Daniel has previously spoken publicly about personal losses. He lost his father in 2015 and one of his triplet sons in 2021.

In 2025, he also revealed that his wife had lost her mother in 2024, a loss he discussed while explaining some of the emotions behind his song, Al-Jannah.

Despite the loss of his mother, the singer said he has to continue moving forward for the rest of his family, while apologising to his fans for his late return to music activities this year.
