2027: Hamzat Calls for Grassroots Mobilisation, Fact-Based APC Campaign

Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, has urged party members to base their campaign for the 2027 election on verifiable achievements, policy records and measurable outcomes.
Hamzat said facts and data, rather than emotions, should guide the party’s engagements with voters across the state.
The deputy governor spoke on Friday at the inauguration of the APC Lagos State Campaign Council at the party secretariat on Acme Road, Ogba, Lagos.
He said the party had a record of performance under President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which he urged members to present to voters.
“It is not about emotion. It is about data. It is about records. We must be able to tell our people what we have done, what we are doing and what we intend to do,” Hamzat said.
“When you look at the reforms in taxation, infrastructure, agriculture, security and other areas, there are records that we can take to the people.
“Our campaign must be about these records and achievements, and we must confidently explain them to the electorate.”
Hamzat said reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration were aimed at strengthening the economy and creating opportunities for Nigerians.
He cited major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, as examples of what he described as the administration’s commitment to long-term economic development.
The deputy governor said developments across various sectors demonstrated what he described as a deliberate effort to promote sustainable growth and improve living standards.
He also described Lagos as critical to Nigeria’s economic development, citing the state’s contribution to the national economy.
Hamzat said Lagos’ strategic importance made continuity in governance necessary and urged APC members to highlight the administration’s record, particularly in infrastructure and transportation.
He also called for increased grassroots mobilisation, urging party members to engage their communities, friends, neighbours and religious groups ahead of the election.
According to him, the party must convert support at the grassroots into votes through sustained engagement with voters.
