Fashola, Ambode Join Sanwo-Olu as Lagos APC Unveils 2027 Campaign Council
Former Lagos State Governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode have been appointed co-chairmen of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Advisory Council as the party begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The appointments bring two former governors into the party’s campaign structure alongside incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who will serve as Chairman of the Advisory Council and overall Chairman of the Campaign Council.
The structure was unveiled on Thursday by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre.
Prince Tajudeen Olusi was named Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), while other prominent figures in the Lagos APC political structure were also assigned key roles.
They include Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly; and former Minister of Health, Adeleke Mamora, who were listed among members of the advisory council.
Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat will serve as Deputy Chairman of the Campaign Council.
The council also names Ojelabi Cornelius as Vice Chairman I, Obasa as Vice Chairman II and Damilola Sonayon James as Vice Chairman III.
Former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has been appointed Director-General of the campaign, with Rasaq Ajala as Deputy Director-General and Adekunle Olayinka as Campaign Secretary.
The campaign structure also includes specialised directorates and sub-committees covering legal and compliance, party and inter-party affairs, administration and logistics, traditional institutions, diaspora engagement and residents’ associations.
The unveiling comes as political parties begin positioning their structures ahead of the 2027 elections, with Lagos remaining a strategically important political centre.
The formal inauguration of members of the campaign council is scheduled for Friday, September 18, at the Lagos APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
The inclusion of Fashola and Ambode places three former and serving Lagos governors prominently within the party’s campaign architecture, alongside several influential political figures from the state and the federal level.
