Nigeria Coach Warns Against Complacency Ahead Of Africa Volleyball Championship

Nigeria Volleyball head coach, Ryan Masajedi has cautioned his players to avoid slackness ahead of the Africa Volleyball Championship in Tunisia.

The continental showpiece will serve as the qualification pathway for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics Games.

The Nigeria team is drawn in Group C alongside Algeria and Chad.

Masajedi trusts his players know the dynamics at stake while approaching each game with their best form.

“The players understand what is at stake, and we’ll approach each game as it comes,” he said.

He disclosed that their first aim is to ease past the group stage and unleash their arsenal against their opponents in the knockout stage.

“The first task before us is to scale through the group stage and then wait for our opponent in the next round.”

Masajedi however urged his players to desist from apathy as they take on their opponents in the Africa Championship.

“We’ll not underrate any team in our group because they are equally at the championship to make a statement.”

The coach also appealed for national support, urging Nigerians to believe in the team and pray for its success as the campaign gets under way in Tunisia.

Nigeria finished seventh at the 2021 African Men’s Volleyball Nations Championship in Rwanda, defeating DR Congo 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-22) in the classification match.

Nigeria will start their campaign at the Africa showpiece against Chad on Wednesday, September 16 in Tunis.
