Nigeria Elite Referee, Ekun Graduates In Style Reels Out Achievement As Lasusu Sport Director

Nigeria professional elite referee, Folashade Ekun has officially graduated from the Lagos State University (LASU) with Bsc/Ed Physical Health Education (PHE) as she was part of the 30th set of the school that did their convocation ceremony on Tuesday, August 18 2026.
Ekun distinguished herself as a remarkable figure while she combined a brilliant career as a professional football elite referee and also educational career in achieving astonishing results.
Also a diploma holder in PHE at LASU, she started her referee career at a brilliant age where she excelled among her peers and rose through the ranks in cementing her status as one of the best top ranking referees in Nigeria.
Through her excellent sporting activities in campus, Ekun was elected as the 36th Lagos State University Students Union (LASUSU) Sport Director where she changed the dynamics of sports in the institution to a positive enviable height and also made history as the second woman to occupy the distinguished position.
As captain of LASU, she led the school women’s football team to clinch the gold medal in the 2024 All Africa University Games (FASU) jointly hosted by the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and LASU. She also led the school team to the 2025 Nigeria University Games (NUGA) as the LASUSU Sports Director.
She captained the LASU women’s football team to the 2025 World University Games in Dalian, China where she cemented the status of LASU on the biggest stage.
Among other positions she held was the 39th secretary of sports committee of the Nigeria Association Of Physical Health Education Recreation Sports Dance (NAPHER-SD LASU), honorable member 39th NAPHER-SD and 40th IEC chairperson LASU.
Ekun’s achievements, success in office as Sport Director and student didn’t go unnoticed as she meticulously earned the 2024/25 LASUSU female Most Valuable Player, LASUSU special recognition award, NAPHER-SD LASU 2024 Sportswoman of the year, Esan LASU 2025 Sportswoman of the Year award and the Forge 2026 Sports personality of the year award.
