Over 200 Nigerians Allegedly Accuse Travel Company Of Collecting ₦200m For Jobs, Visas

More than 200 Nigerians have allegedly accused TMT Travels and Tours of collecting over ₦200 million from them under promises of securing international employment opportunities and travel visas.

According to some of the alleged victims, they paid substantial amounts of money to the company and submitted their international passports as part of the visa and travel processing arrangements.

However, the victims claim that after making the payments, they were left stranded and unable to recover their money or obtain the promised services.

Some of those who spoke about the alleged incident reportedly claimed that they have been unable to reach the individual behind the company for more than two years.

The allegations have also taken a tragic dimension, with one woman reportedly claiming that her husband died following the ordeal.

Another alleged victim reportedly travelled from Libya with her family to Nigeria specifically for the visa processing, only to allegedly lose her money in the process.

As frustration grew among the affected individuals, activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) and other activist networks reportedly became involved in the matter.

The activists are said to have helped mobilise the alleged victims and facilitate the formal submission of their complaints to the police.

The affected individuals reportedly submitted statements, payment receipts and other documents which they say support their allegations against the travel company.

The case is now expected to be investigated by the relevant authorities, while the alleged victims are seeking answers, recovery of their funds and accountability over the circumstances surrounding the disputed travel and employment arrangements.

• The allegations remain claims by the affected individuals, and the investigation by law-enforcement authorities will be expected to establish what transpired, determine whether any offences were committed and identify those responsible, if wrongdoing is established.
