LASU Best Graduating Student Earns Over 40 Technical Certifications
At just 22, Samuel Oluolamide Adebanjo, the 2025/2026 Overall Best Graduating Student of Lagos State University (LASU), has distinguished himself not only through academic excellence but also through an impressive collection of more than 40 technical certifications.
Adebanjo, an Aerospace Engineering graduate, finished his degree with an outstanding 4.97 CGPA out of 5.00, earning First-Class Honours and emerging as the best graduating student in his faculty, department and the entire university.
Beyond his academic record, the Ogun State indigene from Remo North devoted his undergraduate years to acquiring specialised technical skills across several fields.
His more than 40 certifications cover areas including NVIDIA Deep Learning, Thales Robotics and ANSYS, while he also completed a 35-certificate Onshape pathway, further demonstrating his commitment to practical and industry-relevant knowledge.
His technical development was complemented by four scholarships secured from OPay, AltSchool Africa, CyberData Foundation and the Biodun Collins Ogundipe Foundation.
Adebanjo also authored six technical papers, two of which were peer-reviewed and published at the SPE NAICE 2026 conference. His research interests covered Space, Artificial Intelligence and Energy.
He equally held six executive leadership positions, including SPE LASU Academic Director, ITSI Project Lead and Space Club Learning and Development Coordinator.
His achievements earned him more than 12 academic and competition awards, including the AESA-LASU Scholar of the Year and ESS Quizathon.
Adebanjo’s accomplishments attracted substantial financial recognition. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu awarded him N20 million, while the Sunbeth Excellence Partnership Programme presented another N10 million, bringing his total cash reward to N30 million.
Describing his achievement as a fulfilment of his family’s sacrifices, prayers and support, Adebanjo said he was proud to have made his family and Ogun State proud.
From mastering advanced technical tools to earning over 40 certifications, publishing research and graduating with a 4.97 CGPA, Adebanjo’s story highlights the value of combining academic excellence with practical skills and continuous learning.
