‘We Never Do Song!’ — Teni Jokes as She Calls Out Burna Boy Over Ocean Stunt

Nigerian singer Teni has jokingly called out fellow music star Burna Boy after he took a dip in the ocean, questioning why the Grammy-winning singer would risk his life when the pair are yet to record a song together.
Teni reacted to footage of Burna Boy’s ocean stunt in a humorous video, expressing mock concern while imagining what could have happened if the singer had encountered a shark.
Rather than simply worrying about Burna Boy’s safety, however, Teni had another pressing concern: their long-awaited collaboration.
“Burna Boy, baba, I go change am for you o. Wetin be the meaning of this rough play wey you go dey play for inside river, for inside ocean?” she joked.
‘Me and You Never Do Song!’
Teni then took her joke a step further, imagining a scenario in which Burna Boy had been attacked by a shark.
She pointed out that such an incident would have created a problem for her because the two artists had not yet made a song together.
“Wetin be this? When you know say me and you never do song. Baba, imagine say you jump inside this water now, one big shark swallow you. Wetin go do me and you song?” she said.
The singer’s playful complaint essentially turned Burna Boy’s risky adventure into a reminder that Nigerian music fans are still waiting for a collaboration between the two stars.
‘You Want Make Our Lord Go Meet Our Lord?’
Teni also poked fun at Burna Boy for wearing a life jacket and shouting “Our Lord” during the stunt.
“Cholo, you wear life jacket, you dey shout ‘Our Lord’. So you want make our Lord go meet our Lord and personal Saviour for heaven?” she joked.
Her dramatic delivery transformed what could have been a straightforward safety warning into classic Teni comedy.
For the singer, the real issue was apparently not just the ocean.
It was the possibility of losing Burna Boy before they had managed to get into the studio together.
‘National Treasure’
Teni ended her message by once again urging Burna Boy to stop what she described as “rough play,” while affectionately referring to him as a national treasure.
“Baba, stop that rough play. See national treasure dey jump inside ocean,” she said.
The playful exchange has also reignited the fun surrounding the possibility of a Teni-Burna Boy collaboration.
Both artists have established themselves as distinctive voices in Nigerian music, but despite their individual successes, they have yet to release a song together.
For Teni, it appears that situation needs to change—preferably before Burna Boy decides to test his swimming skills in another ocean.
Because apparently, according to Teni, there is at least one very important reason Burna Boy needs to stay alive: they still have a song to make.
