Patient Found on Drip Inside Illegal Roadside Clinic Along Lagos-Badagry Expressway
A shocking discovery has been made along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway after Lagos State enforcement officers uncovered an illegal makeshift clinic operating inside a roadside shanty and rescued a patient receiving treatment at the facility.
The illegal clinic was discovered at Barracks Bus Stop during a joint enforcement operation involving the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State Task Force and other security agencies.
The operation, led by LAGESC Corps Marshal, Major Olaniyi Cole (retd.), was part of efforts to clear illegal structures and activities along the Lagos-Badagry corridor.
During the operation, officers stumbled on the unregistered medical facility where a male patient identified as Aminu was found receiving treatment through an intravenous drip.
Video footage from the scene showed enforcement officers removing the patient from the makeshift clinic before the structure was pulled down.
“The patient was immediately evacuated, and the shanty clinic has been completely demolished,” Cole said.
He warned residents against patronising unregistered medical facilities, stressing the dangers of receiving treatment in unhygienic and unlicensed environments.
The discovery has raised fresh concerns over the activities taking place inside roadside shanties, which authorities say can serve as hideouts for illegal businesses and other activities.
Lagos State enforcement agencies said clearance operations would continue along the Lagos-Badagry axis as part of efforts to rid major roads and their surroundings of illegal structures and establishments.
