Nigeria Customs Service Appoints New Alternate Captain For Volleyball Team

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has named Abdulquadri Jaiyeola alternate captain of its men’s volleyball team ahead of the second phase of the 2026 Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Monday, 3 August 2026, by Head of Sports Samuel Onikeku.
Onikeku highlighted Jaiyeola’s proven leadership credentials, noting that he recently captained Nigeria’s senior men’s national team to qualification for the African Nations Championship qualifiers in Abidjan.
“Abdulquadri Jaiyeola has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership both at the national and club levels,” Onikeku said. “His experience and dedication make him a worthy addition to the team’s leadership structure as alternate captain.”
Jaiyeola previously featured for the NCS team during a brief spell at the 2021 African Men’s Club Championship in Tunisia.
Philip Akande remains captain of the NCS men’s side, with Chris Udah continuing as first assistant captain and Princewill Okoi as second assistant captain.
Onikeku also praised the squad’s performance in the first phase of the league and called for sustained focus heading into the decisive stage.
“Our men’s team displayed a high level of professionalism, discipline and commitment throughout the first phase of the league.
“I urge the players to improve on that performance and remain focused as we head into the final phase of the competition. We must continue to complement our efforts with hard work, teamwork and consistency if we are to achieve our objectives.”
