Residents Invited as Igando-Ikotun LCDA Flags Off Tree Planting Exercise
Residents of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have been called upon to actively participate in the 2026 Lagos State Tree Planting Campaign as part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability and build a greener future.
The Chairman of the council, Snr. Comr. Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, extended the invitation to community leaders, students, market men and women, youths, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to join the environmental exercise scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
The tree planting exercise will take place at Old Akesan Road by Dosu Ekunrin Junction, Egan, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
According to the council, this year’s campaign is themed, “Trees for Lagos: Our City, Our Responsibility,” highlighting the collective role of residents in protecting the environment and promoting a more climate-resilient Lagos.
Akinsanya described tree planting as more than an environmental activity, saying it represents a long-term commitment to creating a healthier, cleaner and more sustainable future for both present and future generations.
He urged residents across the council area to turn out in large numbers and contribute to the campaign by planting trees that will help improve air quality, beautify communities and support efforts to combat the effects of climate change.
The council expressed confidence that the initiative would further strengthen environmental consciousness among residents while contributing to the Lagos State Government’s vision of a greener and more sustainable city.
