2027: Hamzat Says Tinubu Remains Nigeria’s Most Visionary Leader

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has declared that many politicians aspiring to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election lack the vision needed to drive meaningful transformation and national development.

Hamzat made the remarks on Sunday while hosting members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairmen’s Forum at his residence in Ikoyi after the delegation toured major infrastructure projects across Lagos State.

Reacting to criticisms of President Tinubu by some presidential hopefuls, the deputy governor said effective leadership requires foresight, insisting that many of those seeking the nation’s highest office have failed to demonstrate such qualities.

“Many who want to lead do not have vision. We are grateful to have leaders with foresight. Many people could not see what Asiwaju Tinubu envisioned years ago,” Hamzat said.

He described Tinubu as a leader who encourages innovation and creates an environment where ideas are judged on merit rather than status.

“Before the President, nobody is too small. Once your idea is better, it takes precedence, even above the President’s own. He gives room for ideas to grow,” he added.

Hamzat said Tinubu’s approach to governance led to the establishment of specialised agencies capable of delivering better results than traditional government ministries.

According to him, landmark projects such as the Lagos Rail Mass Transit, Lekki Free Trade Zone, Eko Atlantic City, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Badagry-Sokoto Highway are products of long-term planning and visionary leadership.

“These projects are not merely for transportation; they are meant to industrialise the country and connect Nigerians,” he said.

The deputy governor noted that improved infrastructure would strengthen national unity, boost economic activities and attract more local and foreign investments.

Hamzat also urged APC state chairmen to maintain strong relationships with governors in their respective states, stressing that political parties remain the foundation of democratic governance.

“It is important that we continue to strengthen our party,” he said.

He further called on elected public office holders to remain accountable and transparent in the discharge of their responsibilities.

“As a nation, we must continue working towards building this country. We cannot afford to fail our people,” Hamzat said, adding that leaders would ultimately give account of their stewardship before God.
