Lagos Police Arrest Two Suspected “One-Chance” Robbers In Iyana-Ipaja
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected members of a notorious “one-chance” robbery syndicate believed to be terrorising commuters across different parts of Lagos.
The suspects were apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation along Iyana-Ipaja Road, where officers intercepted a commercial tricycle carrying three occupants.
According to police sources, officers became suspicious during the search after one of the passengers was allegedly found with three Android phones suspected to have been stolen from unsuspecting victims.
In a dramatic turn, the tricycle rider reportedly fled the scene immediately the search began, abandoning the remaining occupants. One of the suspects, identified as Ademola Ibrahim, was however arrested on the spot.
Investigators said Ibrahim later confessed to being part of a “one-chance” robbery gang operating around Idimu, Iyana-Ipaja, Egbeda and Dopemu areas of Lagos.
Further police investigation reportedly led to the arrest of the fleeing tricycle rider, Raheem Lawal, 26, while the operational tricycle bearing registration number SMK 309 QP was also recovered.
The police disclosed that two victims who had previously reported separate robbery incidents positively identified both the suspects and the recovered phones allegedly stolen from them.
Authorities said efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal syndicate still at large.
The command reiterated its commitment to tackling robbery and violent crimes through intelligence-driven policing and sustained security operations across the state.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Tijani Fatai, assured Lagos residents that the command remains determined to rid the state of criminal elements and urged the public to continue sharing useful information with security agencies.
