The Lagos State House of Assembly has taken a decisive step to resolve lingering land ownership issues, directing the issuance of Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) to residents of the Eputu community following the approval of their land excision.

The move signals a breakthrough for affected settlements, including Orile Orudu, Orile Agbaje, Ogunfayo, Olumakun, Odukoya, and Oju-Oto, where residents have long sought formal recognition of their land rights.

By mandating the processing of C of O documents, lawmakers are pushing to regularise ownership, reduce recurring land disputes, and provide residents with legally recognised titles. This, in turn, is expected to unlock access to investment opportunities and boost property value across the community.

The directive also forms part of the broader land reform drive by the Lagos State Government, aimed at improving land administration, curbing informal developments, and encouraging compliance with statutory documentation.

For Eputu residents, the development represents more than policy—it marks a long-awaited transition from uncertainty to legal security, paving the way for structured growth, economic stability, and future development.
