Chairman of Badagry LG, Mr Babatunde Hunpe has charged all junior staff across departments of the council to embrace efficiency, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to service delivery.

Speaking during a one-day capacity-building workshop organised exclusively for junior and middle-level officers, Hunpe declared that the time for mediocrity in public service is over. He stated that efficiency is not optional but the minimum standard expected of every staff member under this administration. Every file handled, every citizen attended to, and every task executed must reflect speed, accuracy, and excellence.

The workshop, which focused sharply on workplace ethics, effective communication, public service standards, and productivity improvement, was deliberately designed to equip participants with practical tools to deliver results faster and better. Three impactful sessions were delivered by seasoned resource persons: Dr. Olaolu Adewunmi spoke on The Local Government System in the 21st Century: An Overview and Functions of Clerical and Middle-Level Officers; Mr. S. M. Hundeyin presented on The Effective Functions of the Registry; and Mr. Babs Akinyanmi lectured on Work Ethics.

Drawing from his own humble beginnings at the LASU Guest House, through his rise to Chief Protocol Officer at Lagos State University, and into public service, Hunpe told the staff that personal growth does not happen by chance. He explained that he did not get to his position by luck but through continuous learning, deliberate self-development, and a refusal to accept average performance.

He therefore charged the participants to take the knowledge gained from the workshop and immediately translate it into visible efficiency in their daily duties.

The Chairman emphasised that the public should begin to experience a new Badagry Local Government where junior staff respond promptly, treat citizens with respect, and deliver services without unnecessary delay.

He stressed that the attitude and efficiency of staff are what shape the image of the council and that he would not tolerate laziness or poor service delivery under his watch.

Council Manager, Mrs. Avoseh Senami Oluwakemi, commended Hunpe for his unwavering priority on staff development. She noted that only a competent and efficient workforce can successfully implement the council’s policies and programmes.
