Okoya Hosts Inspiring 2026 Ramadan Lecture, Calls for Compassion and Charity
Prominent Nigerian businessman and philanthropist Razaq Okoya has once again brought together scholars, dignitaries and members of the Muslim community for the 2026 edition of his annual Ramadan lecture, a gathering dedicated to spiritual reflection and the values of faith, generosity and unity.
The event, held in Lagos during the holy month of Ramadan, provided a meaningful platform for worshippers and Islamic scholars to reflect on the deeper lessons of the fasting season. The programme featured Qur’anic recitations, special prayers and a keynote lecture that highlighted the importance of compassion, humility and service to humanity.
Dignitaries present at the lecture included Razaq Okoya and his wife Folashade Okoya, Raheem Subomi Olagunju (SAN), Alhaji Musiliat Sani-Olagunju, Alhaji Silifat Opeyemi Adekoya, Mrs Mami Adeyemi, Otunba Adetokunbo Eko, Karamat Eko, Mrs Joko (OON), Mrs Fatimah Sola Ganiyu, Chief Imam Almaroof Awwad Akintola, Imam Al-Mubarak Sodeeq, Imam Sulaimon Alentoba, as well as Tajudeen Okoya, brother of the celebrant. Also, present was the Chairman of Lagos East LCDA, Mubi Folarinwa.
Other notable Islamic scholars and clerics at the gathering included the Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Sulaimon Oluwatoyin Abu-Nollah, Imam Shakiru A. Gafar of the Lagos Central Mosque, Alhaji Mufasir Mujjaba Ayinde Giwa, and Alhaji Chief Imam Abdulbaliyi Saidi Samba.
Speakers at the gathering reminded Muslims that Ramadan is not only about abstaining from food and drink but also about spiritual growth, discipline and moral renewal. They encouraged participants to use the sacred period to strengthen their relationship with God, extend kindness to others and support the less privileged in society.
Over the years, the annual Ramadan lecture hosted by Okoya has grown into a respected spiritual event in Lagos, attracting religious leaders, community figures and business personalities who come together to seek guidance and reinforce shared values.
Ramadan lectures across Nigeria serve as important opportunities for Islamic scholars to address contemporary social issues while encouraging believers to embrace virtues such as charity, patience, unity and peaceful coexistence.
For Okoya, founder of the Eleganza Group, the event reflects his longstanding commitment to philanthropy and community engagement. The industrialist has consistently used the Ramadan period to promote acts of kindness and support initiatives aimed at uplifting vulnerable members of society.
As the evening concluded with prayers and warm exchanges among participants, the 2026 lecture once again reinforced the timeless message of Ramadan, faith, generosity and a collective responsibility to build a more compassionate society.
