Political activities gained renewed momentum across Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA) on Monday as the Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), led a wide-ranging grassroots mobilisation for the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) Membership E-Registration Exercise.

In a clear departure from the conventional approach of waiting for members to visit party offices, the Chairman, alongside key APC leaders, took the exercise directly to residents across the wards, reinforcing the party’s commitment to inclusiveness and grassroots participation.

The e-registration exercise, which officially commenced on Monday, January 5, is currently underway at designated centres in Ward C1 (Abosan, Igbogbo), Ward C2 (Mokun, Igbogbo), Ward C3 (Baiyeku/Oreta/Offin), and Ward C4 (Ibeshe/Owode). Existing and intending party members aged 18 and above, with valid National Identification Number (NIN) and Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), are being enrolled seamlessly through the APC’s digital registration platform.

Chairman HOA did not merely flag off the exercise from the council secretariat; he embarked on an on-the-spot assessment tour across selected wards. Accompanied by the APC Chairman in IBLCDA, Hon. Taiwo Orenuga, ward chairmen, and party executives, he visited registration centres in Wards C1, C2, and C4. The tour enabled direct interaction with residents, real-time monitoring of the process, and personal encouragement for party members to formalise and update their membership status.

The importance of the exercise was further underscored by the presence of prominent political leaders from across Ikorodu Division. Notable dignitaries in attendance included former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, H.E. Prince Abiodun Ogunleye; Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun; Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe; Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya; Hon. Babajimi Benson; APC Lagos State Secretary, Otunba Olasunkanmi Tijani; and Chairman, APC Ikorodu Division, Hon. Basirat Banjoko.

Their collective presence sent a strong signal of unity, institutional backing, and shared commitment to strengthening the APC from the grassroots.

Speaking at Ward C1, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun described the e-registration exercise as a vital opportunity for residents to secure their political relevance and voice within the party. He urged party members to turn out en masse, noting that updated registration enhances participation in both party affairs and community development.

Similarly, at Ward C4, Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya and Hon. Babajimi Benson emphasized that the initiative is strategically designed to deepen grassroots engagement, promote inclusiveness, and position the APC for sustained growth and electoral success.

They noted that the exercise goes beyond data collection, describing it as a foundational step toward building a more organised, representative, and responsive party structure.

The APC has therefore called on all members and intending members across Igbogbo and Baiyeku to visit their respective ward registration centres and complete the process, stressing that the ongoing e-registration is a collective effort to strengthen the party and reinforce democratic participation at the grassroots level.
