The founder of Grace Nation Bible Ministry, Pastor Chris Okafor, has broken his silence over the ongoing controversy surrounding his alleged relationship with Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, insisting that allegations against him must be proven in court.
The cleric spoke on Sunday during a marriage thanksgiving service at his church, days after Ogala was arrested by the police on Saturday, December 20, 2025. The actress was reportedly taken into custody following public accusations that Okafor failed to fulfil an alleged promise to marry her.
In a video from the service that has since gone viral on social media, Okafor maintained that he had chosen not to respond publicly to the allegations on divine instruction. Quoting the law, he stated repeatedly that “he that alleges must prove.”
According to the pastor, remaining silent had not been easy, especially in the face of what he described as misrepresentation and false claims. However, he said he would not be drawn into public exchanges that could compromise ongoing investigations.
“It can be painful to be misrepresented for what you are not and what you have never known in your life, but we leave it there for now. Thanks be unto the Lord,” he said.
Okafor further declared that responding to the allegations publicly would amount to glorifying negativity, adding that his faith and long-standing relationship with God guide his actions.
“We will never dignify a mad devil by replying. That would amount to glorifying the devil. I have known God as my father since I grew up, and nobody can tell me anything about Him,” he told the congregation.
The cleric also stressed that he respects the rule of law, noting that the matter is already before the authorities. He explained that his decision to remain quiet was based on the need to allow due process to take its course.
“There’s a law in this country that works, and we follow the law. Everything you say about anybody, you must prove it in a court of law. We are not quiet, we are praying and following the mature way. The truth will come out,” he said.
Okafor hinted that investigations could reveal surprising details, including the involvement of unnamed individuals, but declined to elaborate, citing ongoing legal proceedings.
“Because the authorities are in the matter, I cannot say it in public. I will not jeopardise the investigation and the court process that has ensued. He that alleged must prove,” he added.
The arrest of Doris Ogala has continued to generate widespread reactions online, with netizens and celebrities weighing in on the controversy. A prominent Nigerian influencer has since called for the actress’s release, threatening to publish alleged evidence against Okafor and some of his associates.
The police are yet to issue an official statement on the matter as public interest in the unfolding drama continues to grow.
