Youth Dreams Take Flight as Lagos Leaders Fulfil Promises from ‘Mentorship with HOA’ Initiative
By Emmanuel Daniji
A few weeks after the successful Mentorship with HOA initiative — founded and championed by Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA — the positive ripple effects of the programme are already being felt across Igbogbo/Baiyeku and beyond, as dignitaries honour their pledges to outstanding participants.
The initiative, which was held in celebration of the 2025 International Youth Day, brought together policymakers, industry experts, and young leaders for an inspiring session focused on personal growth, civic engagement, and digital empowerment. The impact continues to resonate, especially among the beneficiaries whose brilliance and passion stood out during the mentorship session.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, fulfilled his promise to one of the mentees, Ayomide Oshin, by presenting him with a brand-new laptop. Ayomide, an aspiring cybercrime and digital security expert, expressed excitement and gratitude, describing the gift as a “doorway to learning and innovation.”
Similarly, the Chairman of Ikoyi/Obalende LCDA, Hon. Bola Oladunjoye, also donated a laptop to another outstanding participant, Oluwashola Jude, in recognition of his creativity and commitment to digital advancement. The gesture, according to Hon. Oladunjoye, aligns with Lagos State’s youth development vision of equipping young people with digital tools and skills essential for the future of work.
In addition, Engr. Gbenga Ogunlewe, Director of Mechanical Engineering at the Lagos State Public Works Corporation, extended his mentorship beyond words by donating educational materials and laptops to three students — Saliu Abdulateef, Abdulmujeeb J. Abdulmujeeb, and Opene Faith.
Speaking on the continued impact of the initiative, Omo’ba Hammed Aroyewun, founder and chief organizer of Mentorship with HOA, reaffirmed his belief in purposeful leadership and the transformative power of mentorship. “These fulfilled promises are not just rewards; they are investments in the future,” he said. “When leaders keep their word, young dreams find wings.”
The Mentorship with HOA initiative has become one of the most impactful youth-focused programmes in Igbogbo/Baiyeku, reflecting the chairman’s commitment to building an empowered, digitally literate, and visionary generation.
To the many inspired young people of Igbogbo/Baiyeku, the message remains clear — keep believing, keep striving, your time is now.
