Veteran Nollywood actor, Alhaji Babatunde Bamgbode, popularly known as Baba Fokoko, has dismissed claims made by some of his colleagues regarding unmet promises from the 2023 election campaign.
It was earlier reported that several Nollywood stars, including Lalude, Alapini, Toyin Abraham, Olaiye Igwe, Seyi Law, Eniola Badmus, and Foluke Daramola, actively supported the presidential campaign of Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.
In June 2025, two years after Tinubu’s victory, Alapini publicly expressed regret over his involvement in the campaign, lamenting that he had not been rewarded for his support. Reacting to the comment, Lalude accused the President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), MC Oluomo, of failing to fulfil his alleged promises to the actors.
However, in a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, Baba Fokoko refuted the claims, insisting that MC Oluomo made no such promises.
“He didn’t promise to reward any of us. He didn’t promise me anything, but he had it in mind to treat us well,” the actor stated. “It’s been more than two years, and he never promised to give anyone anything.”
He added that MC Oluomo only provided food items during the campaign, which the actors shared among themselves.
“He brought foodstuffs for us to share during the campaign and told us to distribute the remaining ones among ourselves. We went home with those items more than twice. But he never promised any compensation after the campaign,” he clarified.
Baba Fokoko’s comments appear to counter the growing criticism from some Nollywood figures who have publicly expressed disappointment over the lack of post-election benefits.
