Okanlawon Meets Stakeholders Over Oworonshoki Demolitions, Assures Compensation

The Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde Okanlawon, on Sunday attended a crucial stakeholders’ meeting at the palace of the Oloworo of Oworonshoki, His Royal Majesty Oba Babatunde Saliu, to deliberate on the recent demolition of buildings in Oworonshoki.
Hon. Okanlawon, who represents Kosofe Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, sympathised with residents affected by the exercise, assuring that his thoughts and prayers were with every family and individual who suffered losses.
He further revealed that the Lagos State Government had pledged to compensate victims and explained that part of the reclaimed land would be developed and reallocated to rightful owners of the demolished properties.
Clarifying his position, the lawmaker stressed that he had no prior knowledge or involvement in the demolition process. He promised to work closely with relevant authorities to ensure fairness, transparency, and due process in addressing the concerns of the people.
Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of his constituents, Hon. Okanlawon vowed to continue prioritising their interests and standing firmly by them in times of challenge.
