Yaba Councillor Wins Re-Election on PDP Ticket Despite APC Snub
By Saheed Afolabi
A Yaba councillorship aspirant, Babatunde Dosunmu who was initially denied a return ticket by the All Progressives Congress (APC), has successfully secured re-election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform.
The councillor reportedly switched to the PDP after losing the APC primary. He overcame the odds in the recently concluded local government elections in Lagos State, achieving victory despite his former party’s snub.
Sources within the local political structure suggest a potential return to the APC once the new legislative session begins. This outcome underscores the dynamic nature of Lagos local politics, where grassroots popularity and strategic moves often outweigh strict party loyalty.
Dosunmu councilorship seat win marks the only position won by the opposition PDP out of the 376 councilorship seats contested for across the 20 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State.
