Democracy Day: Tinubu Says Economic Reforms Are Yielding Results
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday said Nigeria’s economy is gradually improving due to ongoing reforms implemented by his administration, despite the current challenges faced by citizens.
Speaking during a special Democracy Day address to a joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja, Tinubu acknowledged the economic hardship across the country but insisted that the tough decisions taken were necessary to lay a foundation for long-term prosperity.
“The reforms we have embarked upon were not easy, but they were essential. Already, we are seeing signs of recovery and growth. Our economy is turning a corner,” he said.
The President pointed to recent macroeconomic indicators, including a stabilizing exchange rate, increasing foreign reserves, and renewed investor confidence as signs that his administration’s policies are beginning to bear fruit.
Tinubu also reaffirmed his commitment to creating jobs, attracting investment, and ensuring food security, saying that his government would continue to prioritize policies that support inclusive growth and poverty reduction.
He thanked Nigerians for their patience and resilience, promising that the sacrifices being made would not be in vain.
“We will not relent until every Nigerian feels the impact of our reforms in their daily lives,” he added.
The address was part of activities marking June 12 Democracy Day, which commemorates Nigeria’s return to civilian rule and honors the heroes of democracy.
