Nigerian Army Cantonment in Epe has announced plans for a significant military exercise scheduled for Thursday 7th November, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. In a memo circulated by the Deputy Registrar/Head of Campus of the Lagos State University, Epe Campus, this pre-rocket launch drill aims to test operational readiness and ensure that all systems are calibrated for upcoming defense activities.
Residents of Epe, along with students, staff members, and visitors to the Lagos State University, Epe Campus area, are advised to anticipate loud detonations and potential vibrations from the use of controlled explosives. The exercise is expected to involve intense sound waves from explosive testing, which may be heard across the surrounding neighborhoods.
According to the memo, the Army has assured the public that all necessary safety measures have been rigorously implemented to secure the environment and minimize any impact on the local community. Community members are encouraged to remain calm and aware of the ongoing operation.
This pre-launch exercise, the memo stated, is part of a routine drill series designed to enhance the Nigerian Army’s capabilities and readiness in line with national defense strategies.
