The Association of Political Consultants Africa (APCA), a premier organization dedicated to promoting democratic principles and effective governance across the African continent, is set to recognize exceptional leadership at its upcoming 7th Africa Political Summit & Diamond Awards. Inspired by global organizations like the International Association of Political Consultants (IAPC), APCA strives to create a regional response to the growing trend of organizing political consultants worldwide.
Dr Paul Fregene, APCA General Secretary in Nigeria who is also the Secretary to Ejigbo Local Council Development Area noted, “Governor Sanwo-Olu has demonstrated exceptional leadership by building the capacity of state secretaries and improving governance structures within Lagos State.”

In line with its mission, APCA proudly announces the nomination of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, for the esteemed Democracy Award. This prestigious recognition will be presented at the 7th Africa Political Summit & Diamond Awards, scheduled for December 11-14, 2024, at Lux Marijani, Zanzibar, Tanzania, Secretary to Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Paul Fregene and other SLG’s in Lagos State, will also be in attendance
The Democracy Award acknowledges political leaders who have significantly contributed to democratic leadership, development, and governance. Governor Sanwo-Olu’s exceptional leadership has been marked by capacity-building initiatives for state secretaries and governance structure enhancements within Lagos State, establishing a benchmark for effective governance and democratic practices.
This accolade is one of three prestigious honors presented by APCA. The 7th Africa Political Summit & Diamond Awards will convene political leaders, consultants, and stakeholders from across the continent and beyond to discuss and promote democratic values and practices.
Notably, Governor Sanwo-Olu joins an illustrious group of past recipients, including Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria, and President William Ruto of Kenya.
