Residents of Ìráyè Epe have voiced their grievances over the persistent issue of poor electricity supply plaguing the community.
Many have expressed frustration at the stark contrast in power distribution, with certain areas such as Poka, Odomola, and Noforija reportedly enjoying more consistent access to electricity compared to others.
According to residents, the disparity in electricity distribution has created a sense of injustice and discrimination within the community.
They lamented that while some areas bask in the glow of streetlights and powered appliances, others are left in perpetual darkness, exacerbating daily hardships and impeding socio-economic activities.
“It’s as if there’s a particular bias against our area,” remarked one resident, echoing the sentiments of many. “We’re tired of being overlooked and neglected when it comes to essential services like electricity.”
The frustration among residents has reached a boiling point, prompting calls for urgent intervention from government authorities.
Community leaders and activists have urged relevant stakeholders to address the issue promptly, emphasizing the importance of equitable distribution of resources for the well-being and development of all residents.
In addition to the challenges posed by erratic electricity supply, some shop owners in Ìráyè Epe have raised concerns about the exorbitant costs associated with maintaining cold beverages.
Many lamented the significant amounts spent daily on ice blocks to keep their drinks cold, a necessity exacerbated by unreliable power Supply.
In response to the outcry, local officials have pledged to investigate the matter and take corrective measures to ensure fair and consistent electricity supply across all neighborhoods in Ìráyè Epe.
