Man Charged To Court For Slapping LUTH Nurse

A man has been arraigned at the Surulere Magistates’ Court for allegely slapping a nurse at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, in Idi-Araba, Lagos.

The accused, 52-year-old Ibakpa Mark, commited the assault on the nurse, Okekeakpu Ngozi, on April 10 at about 1:40am while being a patient at the hospital.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that Ibakpa, a resident at No 45, Erelu Danisa, street, Aguda in Surulere, Lagos, slapped the health official following her refusal to lay a bed for him upon request at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.

The prosecutor disclosed that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 170 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Ibakpa however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Oluwatoyin Otitoju, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two rsureties in like sum.

She ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have their house addresses verified by the court.

The matter was adjourned till May 3 for trial.
