NWFL Premiership: Robo Queens with a vital away win as Rivers Angels drop points at home

Football took center stage again as fans and football lovers eagerly trooped to different match centers to watch football games of their favorite teams as the second round of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership began.

The battle for the top spot in group A was a fiercely contested tie as Delta Queens played a pulsating 1-1 draw with Bayelsa Queens in Asaba to maintain their unbeaten run of form. Goals scored by Mercy Omokwo for Delta Queens and Etim Edidiong with the equalizer for Bayelsa Queens.

Osun Babes defeated Heartland Queens 2-0 in Oshogbo. Goals from Rebecca Omodele and a late goal from Bolaji Olamide sealed the important victory for the home side as they keep their survival hopes alive.

Rivers Angels hosted Royal Queens in Port Harcourt and it ended 1-1. Aguadze Juanita converted from the penalty spot for the home side in the first half but could not hold out for the victory as Obadun Azezat struck at the death of the game to secure an all important away point for the visitors.

Nasarawa Amazons defeated Abia Angels 2-1 in Aba to heave a sigh of relief as they got their first away win of the NWFL Premiership this season. Dominance Odubanjo gave the Lafia ladies the lead before Mathias Josephine doubled Amazons advantage in the second half as Nmesoma Ibe pulled a goal back for the home side.

In Yola, Adamawa Queens lost at home 2-1 to Robo Queens. Goals from Onyenezide Esther ensured that the visitors secured maximum three points.

The last match of Week 8 fixtures is to be played between Confluence Queens vs Ibom Angels in Lokoja on Friday 10th of February 2023.
