Mushin-born Major General promises to give back to community

A Mushin-born high ranking military personnel in the Nigerian Army, Major General Mutiu Yekini, (son of a former councillor in Ward H2), has disclosed plan to renovate the primary school he attended, and construct a borehole at his former residence in Cardoso, where he grew up in Mushin.
He made this known during his visit to the chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye.
The chairman was filled with joy as the Army General gave account of his childhood days in Mushin, and how he attended Alafia Oluwa Primary School, Ilasamaja before he proceeded to Archbishop Aggey Memorial Secondary School, also in Ilasamaja area of Mushin, before he was finally admitted into the Nigeria Defence Academy in 1982.
Yekini, whose father (Alhaji Aminu Yekini) was the councillor of Ward H2 (now divided into two wards E & F) under the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), during the administration of Late Lateef Jakande as Governor of Lagos State, reunited with some of his childhood friends in the community and old colleagues at the council secretariat.
The Army chief who had once worked as a clerical officer in Mushin Local Government, also visited the place of his birth at 70 Cardoso Street, where he met his childhood friends and former landlord, Mr. Samuel Oladele.
The landlord and some of his childhood neighbours confirmed that the senior Army officer has always been in constant touch with his people and members of the community despite his commitment in the Armed Forces.
Mr. Taofik Yekini, who has always benefitted from the military officer, attested to his kind and humanitarian gesture. Other beneficiaries like Mrs. Kafilat Yekini and Mr. Oluwatosin Ogunniyi, also confirmed that the Maj. Gen. has always been in touch with them for various financial assistance and support to members of the community, including monthly stipends to some of the youths who have been on his payroll for many years.
His planned projects for his Alma Mater include changing the roof cover with new ceiling, 2 set of computers, printers, office desk and chairs for teachers, fans, overhead tank and water reticulation, book shelves and new toilets including tiling of the toilet walls and floor.
