Man bags 4 yrs imprisonment for stealing, assault, other offences

A 24-year old man identified as Abdulahi Ahmed has been sentenced to four years imprisonment by a magistrate court in Isolo having been convicted for four punishable count charges ranging from stealing, assault, murder attempt and unlawful attempt to possess others’ properties.
Abdulahi, who pleaded guilty to the charges,has tried to forcefully take possession of properties belonging to Messrs Alasan Garba and Danjuma Saminu, after harming them,cutting Garba’s chest with cutlass.

It was gathered that Abdulahi and six others, now at large, had on Tuesday 5th December, 2017 around 3 a.m forcefully gained entrance into the residence of the victims at 4, Oluwalodami street, Idi-Araba, Mushin, carting away provisions worth N55,000, a Samsung S4 valued at N35,000, a Nokia 220 phone worth N10,000, a Tecno phone valued at N7,500, a wrist watch worth N25,000 and N5,000 cash.

During the operation, Abdulahi was said to have leveraged on the cutlass at his disposal and stabbed one of the victims; Alasan on his chest, leaving him with an open injury on the upper part of his body.

According to the prosecutor, Oje Uagbale who spoke to Echonews base on the report of Alasan that around 3 a.m, Abdulahi and six other armed men bugged into his compound and forcefully entered apartment of each occupant and stole valuables. He also revealed that Abdulahi used his cutlass on him and injured his chest.

Alasan also made it known that Abdulahi had been getting away with such act prior to this but nemesis caught up with him when the cops were alerted. The police were able to recover only a phone out of all that were pilfered.

However, the Magistrate, Telumo, who presided over the case gave her verdict and sentenced Abdulahi to a year imprisonment for each count charge after convicting him for four count charges punishable under sections 173, 287 and 301 of Lagos State criminal 2015.

The jail term, taking effect from January 22nd, 2018, would be served consecutively.
