Two workers spend Xmas in jail

It was in an unusual Christmas for two suspected criminals- Olamide Elijah and Augustine Onyeisi who had been remanded in prison by a magistrate court sitting in Isolo for dehumanizing a co-worker with shovel and broken tiles.

As understood by ECHONEWS, both suspects, aged 32 and 31 respectively had on Friday, 8 december, 2017 conspired and assaulted a co-laborer identified as Ogbede Emmanuel at 3, Catholic Greenfield Estate Ago-okota with shovel and broken tiles leaving him brutally injured.

However, the victim, who claimed he had no misunderstanding with the suspects before the incident narrated that on the day of the incidence, he was doing his laboring job when both guys approached him telling him the job was meant for them.

He said, within a blink of an eye, he was battered with fists and injured with shovel and broking tiles.

“We are all casual site workers, on that day, they have their assigned works to do, same as me suddenly, they approached me saying I’m not supposed to be doing the work because it’s meant for them before I know what’s happening they’ve started beating me. One of them carried shovel, the other took tiles. I think it’s envy that had engulfed them because we don’t have any issues at all”, he narrated.

Furthermore, he revealed that they never took any responsibility for his treatment bill even after making a sworn undertaking at the police station after they were arrested and that was what triggered their subsequent arraignment. “they didn’t take any responsibility for my treatment”.

Actually, police arrested them and the third day, they were bailed having made an undertaking to foot my treatment bill. The undertaking elapsed on the 18th December 2017, that led to their arrangement because they don’t want to pay even though, they work everyday “he concluded.

However, they both pleaded not guilty to the two assault likened charges and were subsequently granted bail of 20,000 each with two sureties in like some, apiece. Pending the time they would meet up the bail conditions. both suspects were remanded in prison till adjournment date which is Wednesday, 10th of January 2018.
