WakaPass Foundation is a football project that uses the game to raise societal leaders. Led by Angel Salt, the team has reached out to over 500 young players and 8 coaches in football academies across Lagos State.
With voluntary visit to these academies,
young football players have been inspired to passionately pursue their football dreams, while also paying close attention to their studies, acquiring vocational skills and also imbibing the best moral standards.
A total of eight football academies were visited in 2021 and were all hosted at the maiden edition of ‘Wakapasstars Champions Cup “The Game Changer” in December 2021.’
Some of the highlights of the event are football competition where Rolabass Football Academy of Surulere emerged the winners. scouting opportunity, vocational skill acquisition, soft social and social skills, community cleaning exercise, use of social media and player profile, CPR/First Aid session and presentation of medals, certificates and trophies to the respective recipients.
The coaches of the eight invited teams were also taken through a leadership session facilitated by Coach Jide Akinyelu of Gbagada FC. The winning coach of the WakaPass Champions Cup, coach Roland Bassey of Rolabass FA was also awarded scholarship to a one year study of advance football coaching certificate at the National Institute for Sports courtesy of Gbagada FC and WakaPass Foundation.
This year 2022, many more grassroots football academies will feel the impact of this project as Angel Salt and his team are set to reach many more of these young players with the football plus Education (FED) mandate.
