Apply Now: Swiss Re Foundation Entrepreneurs for Resilience 2027
The Swiss Re Foundation has opened applications for the 2027 Entrepreneurs for Resilience (E4R) programme, inviting established healthcare social enterprises in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to apply for support to expand access to affordable, quality primary healthcare.
The 2027 edition marks the 10th year of the Entrepreneurs for Resilience programme and focuses specifically on innovative “brick-and-click” healthcare models that combine physical points of care with digital technology.
The programme is aimed at organisations that are already delivering healthcare and have demonstrated potential to scale their reach and social impact, particularly among underserved and low-income communities.
What the Programme Offers
Selected organisations can receive a combination of funding, technical assistance, business support and access to networks.
During the first stage, 6–8 shortlisted enterprises can receive up to US$45,000 in pilot funding to test initiatives designed to increase their impact or validate new approaches, alongside tailored technical assistance during the due diligence process.
Following the selection process, 3–4 finalists can share up to US$1 million in blended funding over a two-year implementation period. The financing combines conditional and unconditional funding and is intended to support the scaling of proven healthcare models.
Finalists can also receive up to 20 days of tailored technical assistance, as well as opportunities to connect with healthcare professionals, investors, corporate experts and other social entrepreneurs.
Who Can Apply?
The 2027 call is specifically seeking organisations whose primary focus is improving access to primary healthcare for low-income populations in LMICs through a combination of physical care delivery and a digital enabling layer.
Applicants should generally:
- Operate in a World Bank-defined low- or middle-income country.
- Have a market-based revenue model and demonstrate growth potential through earned revenue.
- Have been established by 2023.
- Already serve at least 50,000 people and demonstrate potential to reach 100,000 people within two years.
- Have at least 30% of their customer base from low-income populations.
- Demonstrate measurable social impact and a strong potential for scaling.
- Have a solid management structure with clearly defined responsibilities and a diverse workforce.
The opportunity is therefore designed for established healthcare enterprises with proven operations, rather than businesses at the idea or very early start-up stage.

The Round 1 application deadline is October 4, 2026, at 23:59 CEST. Applicants selected from the first round will be invited to complete a more detailed second-round application in late October or early November 2026.
