Obe Cup: Six Wards, 12 teams compete for trophy

With each ward producing two teams, 12 teams are currently competing to emerge winner of the maiden edition of Obe Cup in Ejigbo LCDA.
The most talked about football competition in Ejigbo, kicked off at Ejigbo mini stadium with teams from Ifoshi ward, Aigbaka ward and Fadu ward playing each other, while the MKO Abiola mini stadium inside Jakande Estate, Oke-Afa, Ejigbo played host to teams from Ilamoshe ward, Oke-Afa ward and Ailegun ward.
Each ward produced two teams which comprises of an U17 and free age team.
The first and second placed team that amass the most points from the two centers will advance to the semi-final stage of the competition.
So far, the competition has garnered an enviable numbers of fans across all wards in Ejigbo LCDA.
The competition is organised by Ejigbo Grassroots Sports Development Initiative and sponsored by the council chairman, Hon. Monsuru Oloyede Bello (Obe).
Speaking to ECHONEWS, the chairman of the local organising committee (LOC), Ahmed Shekoni, said he is satisfied with the turnout of teams so far in the competition, stating that the teams representing the wards have been cooperative in the competition.
Shekoni added that the LOC will give the wards a level playing ground and make sure it provides the best officiating in the competition.
